Re: Tips for SFTP |
I enter the following in the login fields:
Host Name: archive.org
Login: ridetheory@hotmail.com
Password: ********
Path: movies-uploads.archive.org
I have also tried switching the entries in the Host Name and Path fields, but the result is always a new Password Request popup that asks for "ridetheory@hotmail.com@archive.org's password" Never gets past that point.
I've tried other permutations (just my user name with no domain, etc.) always with very similar results.

Re: Tips for SFTP |
Hm. I just tried ftp-ing to movies-uploads.archive.org with the name and pass as suggested, using SmartFTP on Windows, and it worked.
Why don't you try a trial version of a Mac prog such as Fetch -
http://fetchsoftworks.com/ - and see if that'll work? Recommendations for good freeware Mac FTP software (with a graphical interface) from others also welcome.

Re: Tips for SFTP |
Well, that didn't work, neither. And SFTP, meanwhile, works just fine with my regular host.
As near as I can figure, the hangup is that I end up with a logon with two @s in it -- "ridetheory@hotmail.com@movies-uploads.archive.org", and that can't be right, can it?
I hate to be a big baby, but is there any way to set up an account for "ridetheory" rather than "ridetheory@hotmail.com" so I could experiment to see if that's the hang up?
OR, is it possible for me to use my host at scribble.com to do all the dirty work somehow?
OR, just to be a REALLY big baby, could someone there at the archive go to the url (
http://www.scribble.com/ridetheory/RobotLoveLG.mp4) and move the file into my account here, so I could proceed?
Thanks. Just looking for a workaround...
